What is PDF Tools?

PDF Tools is a free collection of browser-based utilities for working with PDF files: merging, splitting, compressing, and converting to images. Unlike most online PDF services, it never uploads your documents. All processing happens locally using JavaScript running in your own browser.

Privacy

Your files are never sent to any server. When you select a PDF, it is read directly into your browser's memory and processed on your device. The moment you close or refresh the page, the data is gone. This makes PDF Tools safe to use with contracts, financial statements, medical records, and other sensitive documents.

We use Google Analytics to count anonymous page views and Google AdSense to display ads. Neither has access to the contents of your files — they only see standard, non-file usage data like which page you visited.

Compression & quality notice

The compression tool offers a Lossless mode that keeps text selectable, and stronger modes that re-render pages as images for much smaller files. Stronger modes flatten text into an image, so it is no longer selectable or searchable. Choose the mode that fits your needs.

PDF Tools is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Large files (over ~50 MB) may cause performance issues depending on your device's memory. Always keep a copy of your original files.
